In
order to reduce the number of emails that we receive each week
from physicians from India , we have decided to place our responses
to common questions on the internet. Below are common question
and answers:
Q:
I am living India and wish
to find a job at your institution
A:
If a job opening becomes available at our school, we will post
a notice on our website. Please check back from time to time.
In general, we require those we would interview to already be
living in the United States and preferably California .
Q:
I am from India and living
in the United States and wish
to find a job at your institution. Are any available?
A:
If a job opening becomes available at our school, we will post
a notice on our website. All applicants would need to speak fluent
English. If you are in California , we recommend that you stop
by to meet our director, Dr. Marc Halpern so that he gets to know
who you are.
Q:
I have an Ayurvedic Degree from India .
Can I practice in the United States ?
A:
While each State's laws differ, in general the answer is yes.
However, you can not violate any aspect of the States medical
practice act. You can not use the title Doctor without a license
in that State. In addition, you can not diagnose medical disease
or alter prescription medications. There may be other limitations
as well. Please check your State's medical practice act.
Q:
Can I receive further training to learn how to best practice Ayurveda
in the West?
A:
Yes. At the California College of Ayurveda we offer an opportunity
for graduate doctors from India to take a competency examination
to show proficiency in Ayurvedic subjects. Once passed, you can
enter into our internship program where you will learn how to
apply your ayurvedic knowledge to Westerners and work under the
supervision of one of our clinical supervisors.
