Ayurveda & Terrorism, Extremism, Peace and Love

"My heart goes out those who died or were injured in the Paris attack as well as their families and friends. Shock and outrage was my first reaction. Bewilderment. Not sure what to do. How do we deal with such an atrocity? Clearly something must be done. Hate has caused so much pain. I lit a candle and prayed.

Ayurveda & a Chai (Tea) Recipe - Warm & Delicious on Cold Days!

How does a delicious steaming hot cup of homemade chai sound?

’Tis the season of chai! Chai is not only delicious, but because it is warming, it stokes your digestive fire! This makes it great for those of vata and kapha constitution or imbalance. Not as good for pitta, as it can be too heating.

Ayurveda & Stillness, Light and Love: The Path of Healing - Part 2, by Dr. Marc Halpern

In part I, I discussed the importance of creating stillness in the mind and how challenging it is to succeed in doing so.  Without stillness, the mind runs wild, out of control, like a monster that haunts every waking hour. But how about your kids? Do they scrape their tongues each day also? If not, it’s never too soon to start!

What does Ayurveda have to say about headaches?

Headaches are one of the most common health challenges. At one time or another, most people suffer from headaches. When suffering from a headache, most people reach for Asprin, Tylenol or Ibuprofen. While pain killers offer temporary relief, they do not address the cause, and often headaches return.

Now that we're in the season of all things ORANGE, what does Ayurveda say about it?

We are smack dab in the middle of the “orange” season. Pumpkins, Jack-o-Lanterns, tangerine-colored leaves, pumpkin pie, orange gourds abound. Ayurveda teaches that what we bring in through the five senses always carries with it some effect. So what about the color orange? What effect does it have on our doshas?
