Marc Teaching

Ayurvedic Health Practitioner Internship

418 additional hours

1,622 total hours

This is an internship in preventative medicine. During this six-month internship program, students will conduct a minimum of 50 patient visits for supporting their patient to make a successful transformation toward a harmonious and healthy diet and lifestyle. Interns will gain experience working with diet, herbs, aromatherapy, color therapy, sound and mantra therapy, yoga therapy, and other Ayurvedic and yogic practices.
It is during the internship that students begin to make the transformation from a student to a practitioner. All students attend a 12-day program of intensive seminars while they are in the internship portion of their program. Class curriculum includes case management, patient psychology, documentation and much more. Classes are held in Nevada City and most classes are broadcast live over the internet.
The goal of clinical internship is to introduce and help students to become comfortable in the role of a professional health care provider and to help the intern gain experience in supporting others to create an Ayurvedic lifestyle. This program is for students wishing to go into private practice on their own or within an existing health care clinic.

Students must complete Level 1 and Level 2 of our programs and have completed a college level Anatomy and Physiology course. Transfer students must first complete a competency examination.

Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist Internship

370 additional hours

1,992 total hours

Students must first complete our Ayurvedic Health Practitioner internship in order to qualify to participate in this program.

This is a six-month internship in disease management. Students will conduct a minimum of 50 additional supervised patient visits on patients who present with more serious symptoms and conditions. There are six additional intensive classes during this program. The curriculum focus is on case management.
This outstanding training is the only one of its kind in the United States and will help assure that the graduate is capable and competent to practice Ayurvedic medicine. Residents work under the supervision of Dr. Halpern and his staff. Interns perform patient examinations as well as design and implement appropriate treatment plans using all of the modalities available in the field of Ayurveda. On-site interns design and prepare the herbal medicines for each of their patients in the College's herbal dispensary under the supervision of the Herb Department Director. Off-site interns design the formulations for preparation.

Interns also participate in community outreach and public education programs. The skills gained from these experiences help students to build their practices in the future.

Students gain important experience as they engage in pubic outreach activities such as giving public lectures and participating at health fair booths and activities.
