Ayurveda, Stress & Meditation

  • Feeling Holiday Stress? Make sure you take time to meditate!

  • “Western science has well documented the effects of stress on the body. Many scientists and researchers are convinced that stress is the single most important cause of chronic disease.

  • Ayurveda would agree that stress is a significant cause of disease. In fact, Ayurveda is the science of what is stressful for an individual. While the proper use of the senses creates a stress-free environment, the misuse of the senses creates stress. In addition, the movement of the mind is another form of stress. When the mind gets caught up in the dramas of daily living, the physiology of the body becomes unhealthy. As this occurs, the door to disease opens. If the stress levels are too high, the protective factors of the body are depleted and illness occurs. Ayurveda and its sister science, yoga, are paths that lead to a stress-free existence and in doing so support the healing processes of the body.”

  • Meditation is one of the best ways (if not THE best way) to combat stress. Even meditating for just one minute a few times a day can make a huge difference. Give yourself this gift this holiday season!
