Ayurvedic practitioner in Hawaii: Jackie Reed, Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist from the California College of Ayurveda

Honolulu, Hawaii (PRWEB) April 30, 2014

The California College of Ayurveda (CCA) is pleased to announce that Ayurvedic Consultations are now available in Hawaii.

Ayurveda is a theoretical path which, when properly applied, promises perfect health and enlightenment. In order to be valuable to the general population, it must also be practical. Healing through Ayurveda involves more than simply taking herbs and watching one’s diet. It involves transforming one’s lifestyle so that it is in harmony with their environment. This equates to how one uses their 5 senses to take in the environment. Through the proper use of aromas, colors, sounds, taste and touch. Ayurvedic practice creates an optimum environment within the body for healing to take place and for optimal health to emerge.

Transformation of habits is rarely an easy task. Motivated by desperation, changes can sometimes come easily. However, lacking a crisis, the motivation for personal change wanes. Often times, a person chooses to put up the chronic, mild-to-moderate discomfort rather than make the changes they know would be beneficial.

Ayurveda, which literally means “The Science of Life,” is the healing science from India. It has been practiced for over 5,000 years by millions of individuals to assist the body in journeying back to optimal health. Ayurveda views health and disease as the end result of how we interact with the world, in terms of our beliefs, perceptions, thoughts, and feelings, which then ultimately determine our actions. Actions in harmony with our inner nature create health, while those dis-harmonious with our inner nature create disease. Health comes when we live in harmony with our true nature as spirit.

The Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist (CAS) works on supporting their patients to adopt a healthy lifestyle that is in harmony with their constitution. When a patient sees a Practitioner, they will learn about their constitution as well as the nature of any imbalances. They will also receive support to adjust diet and lifestyle accordingly and to normalize digestion and elimination. As part of the program, an Ayurvedic Specialist can include ayurvedic herbal medicines, aromatherapy, color therapy, sound and mantra, and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy. They not only work with the best of preventative health care, but if a person has a specific condition and is looking for clinical management through Ayurvedic Medicine, they can receive clinical advice.

Jackie Reed is a C.A.S., P.K.S., an expert in pulse diagnosis, and a reiki Master.
The Ayurvedic Spa at the California College of Ayurveda provides panchakarma and other Ayurvedic healing therapies. A complete evaluation is prerequisite to panchakarma. After a complete evaluation, a personalized treatment plan is designed to address the unique constitution and imbalances. A practitioner will discuss if panchakarma is indicated and if it is, how many days of treatment would be most appropriate for each person.

Established in 1995, the California College of Ayurveda is the longest running, State-approved college offering professional training programs for the study of Ayurvedic Medicine in the West. CCA offers a comprehensive curriculum, with three levels of programs leading to certification as a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist (C.A.S.).
