Ayurvedic Recipe: Delicious Fennel & Cardamom Tea!

As we enter autumn, the season when vata tends to become aggravated, it becomes important to consume foods and beverages that will help keep your vata in balance. This fennel and cardamom tea is a great choice for this!
 
Fennel & Cardamom Tea
VP- K+ (Balancing for vata and pitta, aggravating to kapha)
 
Ingredients:
 
  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 2 teaspoons whole fennel seeds
  • 5 whole cardamom pods
  • Organic cream or milk
  • Raw organic sugar, such as Sucanat or maple syrup 
 
1. In a small saucepan over high heat, bring the water to a boil. Add the fennel seeds and cardamom pods. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes
 
2. Pour the tea through a strainer into 2 cups. Stir in cream or milk and sugar or maple syrup to taste. (If you are lactose intolerant, boil the milk first).
