Ayurvedic Recipe: Immune-Boosting Ginger & Turmeric Tea

This is a great tea for helping to prevent colds. Ginger is warming, and both ginger and turmeric have anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric is a natural antibiotic. The lemon juice cleanses toxins, purifies the blood, and increases digestive fire (agni). Plus it’s delicious!

  • 8 slices ginger, 1” rounds, 1/4” thick
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice (to reduce pitta, use lime juice)
  • 2 tbsp raw honey, or to taste
  •

In a large pot on high heat, bring ginger to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat. Pour into teapot and add turmeric and lemon juice. Let the tea cool slightly before adding adding honey.

Makes about 8 cups.
