How Online Study Works
The California College of Ayurveda has developed its online learning model to reflect the same standards, structure, and progression as its on-campus programs.
Students move through a guided course of study that combines live instruction, independent coursework, and direct faculty engagement. This approach ensures that learning is not only theoretical, but integrated and applied over time.
Live, Faculty-Led Instruction
All core classes are delivered in real time, allowing students to participate directly in the learning environment. Through a live broadcast from the Nevada City campus, students are able to engage with instructors, ask questions, and take part in class discussions as they unfold.
This format maintains continuity between online and in-person students, creating a shared classroom experience regardless of location.
Structured Progression of Study
Each program follows a defined curriculum designed to build knowledge systematically. Students are guided through foundational principles, clinical frameworks, and applied understanding in a sequence that reflects how Ayurveda is traditionally studied and practiced.
Coursework is supported by readings, assignments, and case-based learning, reinforcing comprehension through study and application.

Integration of Online and In-Person Training
The Ayurvedic Health Counselor program can be completed entirely online, allowing students to move through a comprehensive and structured course of study from anywhere.
Advanced training programs, including the Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist and Medical Ayurvedic Specialist levels, follow a hybrid format. In addition to online coursework, these programs include in-person intensives at the Nevada City campus. During these sessions, students develop hands-on experience in assessment and diagnostics, observe consultations, and deepen their understanding of clinical application within a supervised setting.
The College provides support for students traveling to Nevada City, including guidance on local housing arrangements.

Online Learning Program
The College’s Online Learning Program is a revolutionary program that integrates home schooling, classroom education, and a relationship with a Master Teacher who guides the students’ education. Online Learning is available up to the beginning of internship, and then continues in the form of field-internship and live online classes. At that time, the student joins with interns from the classroom program.
While the Ayurvedic Health Counselor program can be completed entirely online, higher level education (Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist and Medical Ayurvedic Specialist) training is hybrid and includes an in-person intensive study at the Nevada City campus where students gain hands-on experience in diagnostics and observe consultations. The College can assist students in making local housing arrangements. The fees and credits for each level of the training program are the same as in the classroom programs.
The College’s Online Learning Program is the preferred format for our international students and those who desire the greatest flexibility in their learning schedule. The standards for competency in our online learning program are the same as in our classroom programs.
