The Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC) Program prepares students to work directly with clients through individualized wellness guidance, lifestyle education, constitutional assessment, and Ayurvedic health counseling. The program combines the Principles of Ayurvedic Medicine (PAM) coursework with a supervised Ayurvedic Health Counselor Internship, giving students both an academically grounded foundation and hands-on, client-facing training.

Designed for students seeking a deeper, more practical foundation in Ayurveda, the program pairs academic rigor with experiential learning and mentorship from experienced faculty and clinicians.

The AHC Program is built for students who feel called to help others cultivate balance, resilience, and wellbeing through natural, personalized approaches to health. It is foundational training for preventive care.

You will learn to: 

  • Assess Ayurvedic constitutions and imbalances

  • Understand foundational Ayurvedic herbal principles
  • Guide clients through lifestyle and nutritional changes

Classes & Curriculum

The AHC Program combines the Principles of Ayurvedic Medicine (PAM) foundation with a supervised Ayurvedic Health Counselor Internship, providing students with both in-depth Ayurvedic knowledge and practical counseling experience.

Through live instruction, experiential learning, case-based education, and faculty mentorship, students develop skills in Ayurvedic assessment, lifestyle guidance, nutrition, herbs, client communication, and personalized wellness recommendations. The program is offered through flexible learning formats, including live online and on-campus options.

Travel & Location

The AHC Program is based at CCA’s campus in Nevada City, in the Sierra Nevada foothills, and is also offered live online for students attending from anywhere in the world.

Nevada City has a strong local culture of wellness and sustainability, with nearby wellness and yoga communities, organic farms, and herbalists — an environment that naturally supports the study of Ayurveda. Online participants receive the same live, interactive curriculum and faculty access.

Requirements

  • Completion of the Principles of Ayurvedic Medicine (PAM) program
  • Foundational knowledge of Ayurvedic Medicine from a qualifying educational institution and able to complete a placement assessment. (CTA: Speak with an Admissions Adviser to see if you qualify)

Graduation Certification Requirements:

  • Completion of AHCi Internship.

CCA was founded in 1995 and approved by the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education in 1996, making it the first state-approved Ayurvedic college in the United States. State approval and accreditation are distinct designations; CCA's standing is as a state-approved institution.
