The California College of Ayurveda recognizes that a variety of educational formats are needed to meet the needs of differing student lifestyles. We offer students the opportunity to study Ayurveda online and receive the same credit toward all certifications.

Live Online Classes and Online Mentorship Courses

With our flexible Live Online Classes and Online Mentorship Courses, those limitations no longer have to hold you back from fulfilling your dreams of becoming a professional Ayurvedic practitioner.

What makes our Live Online Classes and Online Mentorship Courses the Gold Standard in ayurvedic online education?

  • Highly Structured Independent Study Program: This is not a loosely-administered, open-ended program that students may or may not complete. Instead, students must complete each module in a specified amount of time. This helps with student focus and pacing.
  • Standards: The program supports the same standards of education that are found in the classroom. Exams are the same as well.
  • Credit: The program provides you with the same credit toward your education as the classroom experience. Online learning students merge with classroom students during the internships.
  • Support: Students will be assigned a graduate Master Teacher/Mentor to oversee their education, keep them on track and answer academic questions.
  • Classroom Videos: Students have access to classroom video’s anytime they want to listen to instruction on a module. While this is not a mandatory part of the program, many students utilize this resource to reinforce their learning.
  • Comfortable Pace: This program follows a pace similar to our weekend program. PAM takes approximately 1 year to complete. CAM takes approximately 1.5 years to complete. Internships are not included in these time frames.
  • Internship: These online learning courses prepare students for internship. No on-site intensives take place prior to the internship training intensive. Internships can be performed onsite or offsite. Learn more about Ayurveda Internships

Online Learning Format:

CCA’s Online Learning format  integrates independent study with the option to join open class hours with a Master Teacher/Mentor. Online Learning is available for the Principles of Ayurvedic Medicine (PAM) and Clinical Ayurvedic Medicine (CAM) courses.

For the internship courses, Online Learning students are required to come to the intensives in person. After that, they can join classes online.

The Online Learning Programs are the ideal format for International Students looking for online ayurvedic training as well as for students living in the United States who are independent, motivated, self-starters.

Please note: A Master Teacher/Mentor is a graduate of CCA who has received additional training to guide students through our program. Master Teachers help keep students on track and moving forward and they are available to answer academic questions.

Live Online Classes

Students may attend weekend and full-time classes live online from the comfort of their own home. Online students are held accountable to the same attendance and performance standards as other students. Modern internet technology allows students with high-speed internet access to view the teacher, the class presentation, and allows for two way (audio/video) communication as if the student is in the classroom. Students must have high-speed internet access, a headset, and a webcam. Additional technology requirements can be found in the technology disclosure within the enrollment documents. Students must be able to create a quiet space for study and not be distracted by external events and have their webcam on during class. Before classes begin we require all students to take our free tech-training on how to use this technology.

Independent Study/Online Mentorship

The College’s Online Learning Program is a modern program that integrates online classes, in-person classroom education, and a relationship with a Master Teacher/Mentor who guides the student’s education. Learning modalities include reading, projects, access to videos, and time spent with your master teacher. Unique to this program is that you will be part of a small cohort of online learning students sharing an intimate and engaging experience.

Visa Information for International Students

Because of the structure of the educational programs at the California College of Ayurveda, international students cannot receive a special student visa to stay in our country and study for an extended period of time. International students should apply for a regular tourist visa. Please note the California College of Ayurveda does not check the immigration status of our students. You will not be required to show a visa to attend classes.

We cannot assist students in obtaining a visa.  All visas must be obtained from an American embassy or consulate.  For more information refer to the U.S. Department of State website.  For embassy and consulate locations, refer to

Internships (On-site and off-site)

All education formats eventually lead to internship. Students in each of our internship programs may either perform their internship in the college’s professional community clinic or within their own communities. Students who perform off-site internships are supervised remotely by one of our Intern Supervisors.
