Free Marma Therapy Webinar: The 107 Points Your Hands Have Already Found
A free live session with Elle Walker Buckton on Ayurveda’s classical map of the body’s vital points, for bodyworkers of any lineage and anyone curious about healing touch.
- Elle Walker Buckton
- Tuesday October 13, 2026
Overview
Every bodyworker knows the spot. The place near a joint where the tissue feels different, where a client exhales before you’ve done much of anything.
Ayurveda mapped those places centuries ago and gave them a name: marma. The word comes from the Sanskrit root mṛ, “to die.” The Sushruta Samhita, one of Ayurveda’s classical medical texts, catalogs 107 marma points and defines each as a meeting place of muscle, vessel, ligament, bone and joint. Its surgeons learned the map so they would know where never to cut. The tradition that grew from it approaches the same 107 points with skilled, deliberate touch. That is marma therapy.
In this free live webinar, Elle Walker Buckton, C.A.S., P.K.S., of the California College of Ayurveda walks through how the classical tradition locates and classifies the marma points, how marma work differs from the pressure-point systems you may already practice, and how each point relates to the doshas in Ayurvedic theory. Whether you trained in Swedish massage, shiatsu, Thai bodywork, reflexology or none of the above, you’ll leave with a second map to lay over the one you already work from.

What You’ll Learn
- Where the 107 marma points sit, and why the classical texts define each one as a junction of muscle, vessel, ligament, bone and joint
- How Ayurveda classifies the points: by tissue, by region, and by how serious an injury to each was considered
- Why points the tradition treats as vulnerable are approached in therapy with gentle, deliberate touch
- How marma work differs from meridian-based systems such as acupressure, and where a practitioner of either will find common ground
- How each point relates to the doshas in Ayurvedic theory
- A few points you can locate on yourself during the session
- Where the full training is taught, and what you need before you enroll
- Live questions with Elle

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. There is no cost and no payment step. Registration exists so we can send you the joining link and the recording.
Marma comes from the Sanskrit root mṛ, meaning “to die.” The classical Ayurvedic texts used it for points where an injury could be fatal or seriously disabling, which is why Ayurvedic surgeons were taught to locate these points and avoid them.
Classical Ayurvedic texts, most notably the Sushruta Samhita, describe 107 marma points across the head, neck, trunk, arms and legs.
No. Both work with specific points on the body, but the classical Ayurvedic texts define each marma as an anatomical junction of muscle, vessel, ligament, bone and joint, while acupressure points in Traditional Chinese Medicine are organized along meridians. Practitioners of either will find common ground, and the webinar covers where the two differ.
No. The webinar assumes no prior study of either. The Marma Therapy Workshop itself requires a foundation in Ayurveda, such as Ayurveda 101 On Demand or Module 1 of PAM, but no prior bodywork experience.
Register anyway. The recording goes to everyone who signed up.
No. A few minutes near the end cover where marma therapy is taught in full. The rest is teaching, and you are welcome to come for that alone.
