Unlock the Body's Energetic Pathways
Marma points are 107 energetic points on the body that give access to the body, mind, and consciousness. Students in the California College of Ayurveda’s Marma Therapy Program learn the history, classification, theory, and location of each point, along with its effect on the doshas and organs of the body.
In this workshop, students learn to work with each Marma point directly, using massage, essential oil application, and Pranic Healing (Ayurvedic energy work) to restore balance to the body and mind. Specific protocols are taught for bringing healing to different organ systems.
Training is hands-on and pair-based: students work in groups of two throughout the program, guided directly by faculty at every step.
Curriculum Includes
- History, classification, and theory of the Marma points
- Marma point locations on the body
- Functions of each Marma point and its effect on doshas and organs
- Essential oil application
- Pranic Healing (Ayurvedic energy work)
- Specific protocols for healing organ and system imbalances

Frequently Asked Questions
Marma points are 107 energetic points on the body where flesh, veins, ligaments, bones, and joints meet, believed to give direct access to the body, mind, and consciousness. In Ayurvedic tradition, each point connects to specific organs and doshas, so stimulating it through massage, oil application, or Pranic Healing can influence the balance of the whole system.
Some exposure is part of learning traditional Marma bodywork, since points are located across the body. Instruction covers proper draping technique throughout, and bringing a screen for added privacy at your table is optional, not required. No student is ever required to participate in receiving or practicing any specific technique they're uncomfortable with, and there is no massaging or intentional exposure of genitalia at any point in this program. Full policy details are provided at enrollment.
No. The program welcomes massage therapists, bodyworkers, energy workers, and Ayurvedic students alike. What's required is a foundational understanding of Ayurveda, not prior bodywork experience — see Prerequisites above.
Applicants should have completed Ayurveda 101 On Demand, the first module of PAM, or the entire PAM program. Applicants active in Dinacharya or enrolled in another Ayurvedic school may also be eligible.
California College of Ayurveda is state-approved, not accredited. It was the first state-approved Ayurvedic college in the United States, receiving state approval for its programs in 1996.
