Learn Anatomy & Physiology from an Ayurvedic Perspective

The California College of Ayurveda now offers an immersion course on Anatomy and Physiology taught by one of our most experienced instructors, Mary Thompson.

Course Overview

This course is open to both Classroom and VedaWeb students. VedaWeb enrollments are limited to 15 students and available on a first-come first-serve basis until all spaces are filled.

Curriculum

This course covers the 8 systems of the human anatomy:

  • Digestive system
  • Respiratory system
  • Urinary system
  • Cardiovascular system
  • Female reproductive system
  • Nervous system
  • Musculoskeletal system
  • Endocrine system

Mary Thompson

Mary teaches a large portion of the Ayurvedic program in Nevada City. This allows Mary to integrate Ayurvedic concepts into her lectures, bringing together traditional Anatomy and Physiology with the Ayurvedic perspective.  All systems of the body will be covered in this class.

Class Schedule

The Anatomy & Physiology Course begins November 6, 2017.

Classes are held on Mondays from 10:00am – 3:00pm with a break for lunch from Noon to 1:00pm.

Class quizzes are taken online separately from class time.

Basic format is 3 hours minimum on western anatomy and physiology (lecture/video), up to 1 hour on Ayurvedic interpretation, and understanding of western anatomy and physiology.

Required Materials

The Anatomy and Physiology Learning System by Edith Applegate

The 3rd or 4th edition is required for this course. The textbook must be purchased prior to class start date. Check out Amazon.com, Half.com or Thriftbooks.com (Used books are typically acceptable. No other related workbooks are required).

Additional Information

Completion of an Anatomy and Physiology course is required prior to beginning Level II of our program.  Extensions may be granted for students who are enrolled but have not completed a program.

Refund Policy

The deposit for workshops & short courses is non-refundable. The Final Balance is due 14 days before the class start date. A student may choose to transfer his/her registration to another class for a fee of $150.00 if done prior to the final balance due date. The ONLY exception to this rule is a documented medical condition. On rare occasions, for reasons beyond CCA’s control, a short course can be cancelled. If you are registered for a short course that the College cancels, you will receive a full refund of any fees paid. While all efforts will be made to avoid cancellations, the College will accept no liability for student losses that occur beyond deposit or tuition actually paid to the College (e.g., non-refundable airfare, time lost from work, equipment expenses).
