Overview

Students will learn the classical approach to Yoga Therapy and how the eight limbs of yoga can be utilized in the healing process.

Part 1 – Classical Yoga Therapy emphasizes the deepest knowledge of Yoga as it applies to healing body, mind, and consciousness. This is a four-day (28 classroom hours, 32 total hours) workshop held online. This workshop is ideal for counselors of any tradition to add Yoga Therapy into their counseling practices. 

Part 2Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy emphasizes learning how to teach dosha specific asana classes.  This is an eight-day ( 56 classroom hours, 68 total hours) workshop held on-campus (in-person). Students who attend part two must also complete three dosha specific yoga classes in their own communities or three private teaching sessions to receive their certificate.  This workshop is ideal for Yoga Teachers who have a background in Ayurveda. After completing this course, students  will be prepared to lead private Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy sessions or conduct dosha specific classes.

Dr Marc Halpern
Dr. Marc Halpern

The founder and President of the California College of Ayurveda. An internationally-respected expert in the field of Ayurveda, Dr. Halpern received the award for Best Ayurvedic Physician from the Indian Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Ramdas. He is a co-founder of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association and the California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine. Dr. Halpern created the #1 Best Selling Recording: Yoga Nidra and Self-Healing. He is also the author of Healing Your Life: Lessons on the Path of Ayurveda. Dr. Halpern is also a Sivananda trained Yoga Teacher.

Elle Walker Buckton

Practitioner, teacher, and lifelong student of Ayurveda and Yogic Philosophy. Elle teaches Marma Therapy and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy Workshops at the California College of Ayurveda in Nevada City, CA. She is a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist, Pancha Karma Specialist, Marma Therapist, Ayurvedic Yoga Practitioner and Yoga Instructor. Elle truly believes in that an Ayurvedic and Yogic lifestyle is the foundation of a blissful existence that brings a sense of calm and wellbeing to body, mind and spirit. It is her dharma to share this ancient knowledge with her community with love and compassion.

Mariah Sunrae

A dedicated yoga teacher and Ayurvedic practitioner, honed her expertise at the California College of Ayurveda and through immersive training in India. As the proud owner of a thriving yoga studio, Mariah specializes in guiding individuals through movement meditation. Her specialization lies at the junction of yoga and ayurveda, empowering her clients to reconnect with their bodies through intentional movement, breathwork, meditation, and visualization techniques. Through her teachings and personalized approach, Mariah provides a transformative experience, enabling her students to find inner peace, healing, and a deeper connection with themselves.

Prerequisites

  • Part I – Classical Yoga Therapy:  This workshop is open to all students with a foundational background in Ayurveda. This can include the completion of the CCA Foundations of Ayurveda course, Ayurveda 101, or the orientation module of Principles of Ayurvedic Medicine. Students from other schools much show proof of foundational training.
  • Part II – Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy:  This workshop has the following additional prerequisites. Completion of Classical Yoga Therapy plus proof of completion of a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program.

Additional Requirements

Classical Yoga Therapy requires reading and homework to be performed outside of class.  An online final exam will be administered; a passing grade of 75% is needed to complete the course.

Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy requires leading 3 Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy classes /sessions outside of class.

Credits

The combination of the 2 workshops = 100 hours

Final Exam

A final exam will be administered; a passing grade of 75% is needed to complete the course.

Additional Information

Travel: Students flying out following the last day of class should consider that the Sacramento International Airport is 90 minutes by car from the campus and that it is recommended to arrive at least 90 minutes before your flight. Students may not leave early from class to catch a flight.

Tuition

Part 1 – Classical Yoga Therapy –  $600
Price includes a $250 non-refundable required registration fee.

Part 2 – Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy – $1000
A $250 deposit is required to hold your space in this class and you must speak with our Continuing Education Specialist to confirm your prerequisites.

Refund Policy

You have the right to cancel the enrollment agreement for this course of instruction, including books, materials and related goods or supplies, and obtain a refund. The institution, for all students, without penalty or obligation, shall refund 100 percent of the amount paid for institutional charges, less reasonable application and registration fees not to exceed two hundred and fifty dollars ($250) if the notice of cancellation is made prior to or on the first day of instruction or by the seventh day after the date of enrollment, whichever is later.
