The Complete Path to Panchakarma Specialization

Panchakarma is the classical Ayurvedic method of cleansing and rejuvenating the body and mind. A Panchakarma Specialist is a practitioner trained not only to understand this traditional process, but to design and deliver it responsibly in real clinical practice.

This track brings together three workshops over six days of hands-on training, plus a required follow-up class, so students leave able to both perform core Panchakarma therapies and design a complete treatment program around them.

Curriculum Includes

  • Workshop 1: Clinical Nasya (14 hours), administering medicine through the nasal passages to treat conditions of the head and neck
  • Workshop 2: Shanti Komala Basti™ (21 hours), CCA’s gentle rectal Basti technique, a cornerstone of colon health and Panchakarma
  • Workshop 3: Designing Panchakarma Programs & Case Management, applying Panchakarma theory to design a personalized program and manage a real client case
  • A required 3-hour case management follow-up class, attended within 3 months of the final workshop, after students complete one Panchakarma program on their own

Who This is For: Practitioners Ready to Offer Complete Panchakarma Care

The Panchakarma Specialist track is an advanced sequence, not an introductory one — it’s designed for students already established in CCA’s clinical track:

  • Ayurvedic practitioners building a dedicated Panchakarma practice
  • Massage therapists and bodyworkers who have completed the Ayurvedic Massage & Bliss Therapy Program
  • Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist (CAS) students and graduates
  • Practitioners who want the full Panchakarma Specialist designation rather than an individual technique workshop

This track is not open to complete beginners; it has specific prerequisites.

Training Format & Learning Experience

The three workshops are taken in sequence over six days of hands-on and case-based instruction, plus a required follow-up session.

Instruction Style

  • Live faculty-guided instruction across all three workshops
  • Hands-on technique practice in Clinical Nasya and Shanti Komala Basti™
  • Case-based discussion and program design in the third workshop, followed by independent case work and a faculty-reviewed follow-up session

Learning Environment

Small class sizes ensure:

  • Direct faculty feedback at every step
  • Individualized correction of technique
  • A collaborative learning experience

Frequently Asked Questions

A Panchakarma Specialist is a practitioner trained both to perform the core hands-on therapies of Panchakarma and to design and manage a complete treatment program around them. This track covers that full path in three parts: Clinical Nasya (nasal administration for head and neck conditions), Shanti Komala Basti™ (gentle rectal Basti for colon health and Vata balance), and a case-management workshop that teaches students to design and oversee a full Panchakarma program for a real client.

Each workshop (Clinical Nasya, Shanti Komala Basti™, and Designing Panchakarma Programs & Case Management) can be taken on its own. Taking all three together as the Panchakarma Specialist track qualifies you for the combined 20% enrollment discount and is the standard path to the full Panchakarma Specialist designation.

Applicants need Principles of Ayurvedic Medicine (or an equivalent program), the Panchakarma Theory Module, and completion of the Ayurvedic Massage & Bliss Therapy Program. Designing Panchakarma Programs & Case Management additionally requires completing Clinical Nasya and Shanti Komala Basti™ first, since it builds directly on those hands-on skills.

Clinical Nasya and Shanti Komala Basti™ are hands-on workshops offered in person at CCA's Nevada City campus.

California College of Ayurveda is state-approved, not accredited. It was the first state-approved Ayurvedic college in the United States, receiving state approval for its programs in 1996.
